It’s been busy here at Casa Rae. My lovely, adorable children have four days of school left. We have Choral Concerts, end of the year dances, baseball games…oh and the Penguins are in the bid for the coveted Cup.

I’m trying to write, doing other duties and right now working on doing a booksigning at a local Borders. Hopefully all the phone calls I made today and the one I have to make at some point tomorrow will pay off and I can do a signing. I wasn’t going to do this, considering the last one I did was sort of a waste of everyone’s time. But, I have a lot of people who don’t own computers, can’t order the book online are were disgusted because they were put on a long waiting list and had to wait even longer for the book because they were only ordering two at a time.

I’m also still in a waiting holding pattern and my house is completely trashed. What do you all do when your life gets insanely crazy?

Dear Blaize,

On 5/18/1992 I went to see the doctor in hopes of him admitting me. It was time to have you, I just knew it. Instead, he told me I looked miserable and I explained he didn’t know the half of it.  He said if I didn’t go into labor on my own, to come back the next morning and they’d break my water and start the process of iducing labor.  I waddled home, told your father, packed my bags and waited.

5/19/1992:  I’ll spare you all the gory details, but let’s just say that when you were finally ready to make your entrance into the world, I was alone in the room. Of course everyone came back at the same time and was frantic because you wanted out. NOW! You were so tiny at 6lbs. 5oz and a whopping 21 inches long. You were my froggy with your long, bent, skinny legs and tiny belly. I knew the moment I saw how long your hands and feet were that we were going to be in trouble if you ever grew into them. You were absolutely perfect and I was terrified because your life was now in my hands.

But we survived. Jaundice, eye surgery, stitches, illnesses, more stitches, ambulance rides, broken bones, arguments….we made it. Sixteen years of mother and son and all the drama that it implies.  I look at you now and I struggle not to see the little guy I dressed in a Fire Chief outfit to bring home from the hosptial.

Things I learned this weekend:

• My oldest got accepted to the technical school he’s wanted to go too, until he met his current girlfriend, but his mom is still making him go.
• I can lose magnetic clip on sunglasses that came with my glasses
• Another clip is going to cost me a lot–but I need it so it’s worth it
• Waiting sucks. :empty:
• Standing my ground with My Guy works. You can teach an old dog new tricks.
• Being without the net for extended periods of time makes me cranky
• Plans are being made for my 20 year high school reunion
• Plans are being made for a Scott reunion and we’re way overdue–aren’t we Bubba?
• I can still party like a rockstar–almost.
